Before & After - The importance of editing
Just before Christmas I did a real estate shoot south of Stockholm and after I’d delivered the pictures the homeowner came back and requested a bar stool be removed from the shots of the kitchen. I always remove any clutter from a shot when I’m onsite, and I am very up front about what I think works and doesn’t work; however, sometimes the homeowner decides that they made a mistake in not moving a piece of furniture or that something just doesn’t work.
Because I typically have 90-120 minutes to shoot an entire house, it’s normal that things need fixing from time to time. A real estate photo shoot can be very intense for both the homeowner, realtor and photographer because of time pressures.

In the old days a photographer would have to zip back and redo the shots; nowadays, you can fix a lot of things in post.
Here are the before and after shots. Watch carefully as the bar stool disappears!
The time and costs involved in this kind of edit bump up the price of a shoot, but I hope it brings a level of confidence to homeowners selling their property and real estate agents that, even if there is a slight problem with a picture, there are some things that can be fixed in post!
